What Does Comprehensive Care Mean to us?

Smiling family outdoors

It’s often said that the eyes are the “window to the soul.” At Florida Vision Institute we believe that they’re your window to the rest of the world. Your eyes should never keep you from living the life you aspire for. That’s why we offer a comprehensive eye exam experience.

Eye Health

You use your eyes to experience life each and every day…that’s why it’s our mission to assess and preserve them. With our annual eye exams and free consultations, our doctors diligently exam your vision capabilities and recommend necessary steps toward improving eye health and durability.

Vision Acuity

Vision, and the proficiency of which you have, dictates what you see, what you perceive, and what activities you carry out. Our corrective surgeries and procedures restore your vision, enabling you to see life clearly.

Eye Exams & Medical Care

Routine eye examination with special attention to screening and detection of all eye disorders including cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. We guarantee a thorough exam as well as a thorough explanation of the results of your exam.

Eye & Vision Exams

At Florida Vision Optique, we strive to provide comprehensive, primary eye care for the whole family. Preventative and routine eye exams are important to maintaining good eye health. Often, eye and vision problems do not have obvious symptoms or signs but are easily diagnosed by a licensed optometrist. By diagnosing eye and vision conditions early on, our optometrist can provide treatment options and, in many cases, restore vision or prevent vision loss. The American Optometric Association recommends yearly or bi-yearly eye and vision exams, depending on whether you are at-risk or not.

Eye Exam and Consultation

During an eye exam, Dr. Michael Goldberg and Dr. Nichole Hruban will ask you questions about any symptoms or issues you are experiencing, medications you are taking, any blurry vision, your work environment, and your overall health. Family history and previous eye or vision conditions will also be discussed during the examination. Dr. Michael Goldberg and Dr. Nichole Hruban will consider this information when determining any treatments or recommendations.

What to Expect at Your Annual Eye Exam

Vision Testing

Regular vision testing and evaluations ensure you always have the clearest possible vision. Our Stuart & Tradition optometrists provide regular vision acuity tests as part of a comprehensive eye exam. Dr. Michael Goldberg and Dr. Nichole Hruban will measure how each eye sees by using a wall eye chart and a reading eye chart. The results of these tests are portrayed as a fraction, with 20/20 being the standard for normal distance and reading vision. Depending on the results of your vision test, our doctors may prescribe corrective glasses, contacts, or eye exercises.

Eye Function Testing

In addition to vision testing, an eye exam in our Stuart and Tradition offices includes testing eye functionality. Our optometrists performs several tests to evaluate depth perception, color vision, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and responsiveness to light. Several other simple tests are completed to determine whether the eyes are focusing, moving, and working together properly. The test results enable our doctors to diagnose any underlying conditions that may be impairing the eyes ability to focus or work together.

Emergency Eye Care

24 hour coverage for eye infections, foreign body removal, and eye injuries. We guarantee quicker and more effective treatment than the emergency room.

Chronic Eye Disease Care

Long term care, management, and follow-up of chronic conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, flashes and floaters, etc.

What Are The Risks For Skipping Periodic Eye Examinations?

Periodic examinations are an important part of routine preventive eye care. Many ocular conditions present no obvious symptoms. Therefore, individuals are often unaware that a problem exists. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for maintaining optimal vision and, when possible, preventing permanent vision loss.

The recommended frequency of comprehensive examinations varies with age, race, medical history, family history, occupation and other factors. Individuals with ocular signs or symptoms require prompt examination. In addition, the presence of certain risk factors may necessitate more frequent evaluations.

A family history of eye disease is one of the most common risk factors. However, Americans with a family history of eye disease are not more likely to get screened regularly. Ethnicity is also another important risk factor for eye disease, yet groups at high risk for Glaucoma, such as African Americans and Hispanics, are not often aware of their risks.

The American Diabetes Association also recommends that diabetic patients see an eye care professional yearly for a dilated eye exam. High blood sugar levels can lead to damaged blood vessels in the retina, the layer of nerve tissue at the back of the eye, known as Diabetic Retinopathy. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent vision loss, and it’s important to maintain good blood sugar control.
